Saskatchewan is leading the country in new home construction, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Urban housing starts rose by 84.1 per cent, the highest increase among all provinces over the first six months of 2025.
“Saskatchewan has been at the forefront of growth in Canada for urban housing starts. Growth initiatives are leading to more and more people choosing to call our province home,” said Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding.
“The unprecedented growth we are experiencing is helping to create more jobs, opportunities and greater affordability for the citizens of Saskatchewan.”
Saskatoon saw a 112.9 per cent jump in urban housing starts and Regina was up 40.4 per cent. In rural areas, urban housing starts rose by 247.2 per cent.
The economy is also on the rise as Saskatchewan’s real gross domestic product reached a record $80.5 billion in 2024, a 3.4 per cent increase from 2023. The province ranks second in the country and is above the national average of 1.6 per cent.
Private investment grew by 17.3 per cent last year, ranking first among all provinces at $14.7 billion. The number is expected to rise in 2025 to $16.2 billion, a projected 10.1 per cent increase.
The government also noted its Securing the Next Decade of Growth plan is helping drive results. The plan is part of Saskatchewan’s new investment attraction strategy through InvestSK.ca.
