Lloydminster man arrested after firearms complaint

Lloydminster RCMP arrested Catlin Heathen after an incident involving a firearm on Nov. 4.

Mounties responded to a firearms complaint at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday and located a victim with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident was targeted, according to police.

At about 8:30 a.m., a suspect was located and arrested without incident. The suspect, Heathen, was found to be in possession of a loaded shotgun and extra ammunition.

Heathen, a 30-year-old resident of Lloydminster, was charged with:

  • Discharge firearm with intent; 
  • Pointing a firearm; 
  • Careless use of a firearm;
  • Carry a concealed weapon; 
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; 
  • Possession of a firearm knowing possession is not authorized;
  • Fail to comply with a probation order; 
  • Possession of ammunition while prohibited (x3); and
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited (x3).

Heathen was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Nov. 10.

Lloydminster RCMP is not looking for any other suspects.
