The storm left damage to the rink board system and dislodged multiple plexiglass panels. According to the city, many panels were broken and sections of the board system were affected.

Repairs will be focused on restoring damaged components and assessing any additional structural needs. Crews will also be working to restore ice conditions following recent warm weather.

The city says they anticipate a reopening later this month. They say they are not aware of other assets in the city damaged as a result of the winds.

As of Jan. 20, Lloydminster is currently under a pair of weather warnings.

Winds are expected to gust up to 90km/h tonight with winds weakening by tomorrow morning. There is also a snow squall warning in effect, which could lead to brief but heavy snowfall and poor visibility.
