The City of Lloydminster has approved changes to its 2026 budget.

The item was presented by Ryan Hill, financial planning and analysis manager for the city, who explained the municipality is in the final stages of its annual budget revisions.
“We’re in the final revision stage of the 2026 budget that comes to council on an annual basis,” he said at the May 4 regular council meeting.
The city also collects money on behalf of other organizations, such as education taxes. The $15.7M collected in education taxes, $26K collected for the seamless education levy and $21K for designated industrial property are sent to the appropriate groups once collected.
“We collect all of this and then we remit it all,” said Hill.
The snow budget was once again in need of additional funding following a long and stormy winter.
“The only city-related item is an increase to the snow removal budget of $540K,” he said. “That’s because in Q1 of 2026 we had exceptionally high snowfall.”
From the resiliency reserve, $540K is being transferred to the snow removal budget, with $500K allocated for residential snow removal and $40K for snow dump maintenance.
“It’s coming out of the resiliency reserve, which is set aside predominantly for these emergent items, so it doesn’t affect the tax rate in 2026,” said Hill.
He noted the reserve typically gets replenished during times of surplus.
The changes to the 2026 budget were approved by council.
