New Statistics Canada data shows Saskatchewan building permits jumped 29.9 per cent year-over-year in March 2026.

The province also saw substantial month-over-month momentum, with building permits increasing 26.1 per cent from February 2026.

Minister Warren Kaeding says the surge in building permits reflects a strong economy taking Saskatchewan construction to new heights.

“Our government is focused on protecting citizens by ensuring that crucial infrastructure and services are ready and available when people need them,” Kaeding said.

The spike in building permits aligns with broader economic growth in the province. Furthermore, Saskatchewan’s real GDP hit a record $85.4 billion in 2025, growing by 2.2 per cent.

Private capital investment also led the country last year, increasing by 12 per cent to $13.6 billion. Provincial officials credit the momentum to Saskatchewan’s ongoing investment attraction strategy, which aims to secure economic growth over the next decade.
