One of the region’s most anticipated automotive traditions is shifting into a higher gear this month at a new venue.
The Just Kruzin Specialty Vehicle Club’s 18th annual show and shine will take place Saturday, June 20. The rapidly growing event will pack the parking lot at Lloydminster’s new Cenovus Energy Hub.
The new venue reflects the incredible momentum this car show has built over two decades. With more space available, automotive enthusiasts can expect a massive, diverse turnout of classic cars, custom builds and specialty trucks.
“We are really looking forward to a great day,” said organizer Gerry Duhaime. “The growth we’ve seen year after year is incredible. We pretty much maxed out the multiplex, so we were looking for another venue and waiting for this place to open. Being able to use it this year is a big, big plus for us.”
To accommodate the massive, expected turnout, the club has also locked down logistical support from other local mainstays.
“We’re partnering with the Gold Horse Casino as well. They’re offering us overflow parking and we’re running a shuttle from there, too, so parking will not be a problem for spectators this year,” he said.

Beyond the change of scenery, Duhaime notes that the 18th annual event will feature some high-octane additions that are sure to be crowd-pleasers.
“We’re bringing in a nitro dragster from Vegreville,” he said. “He’s going to fire it up and make some noise, which is going to be a real pleasure. Plus, we’ve partnered with the Bonnyville Gear Grabbers car club. They’re coming in with a timing tree, so you can sit down and test your reaction time on an electronic simulated drag racing setup off the line. That’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The event also entertains the next generation of gearheads with plenty of free, interactive activities.
“We have our regular kids’ stuff, including Matchbox racing, and we’ve got a great sponsor in Southern Spur Enterprises, who is sponsoring our model-building section,” Duhaime added. “The kids can build a model, put it together, and take it home with them at no charge.”
In addition to hundreds of stunning vehicles on display and family activities, the event features major incentives for participants, offering more than $4,000 in awards and cash prizes.
The event is being supported by local community partners, including Southern Spur Enterprises Ltd., Lloydminster & District Co-op, and Wilde Card Crimson Fire Protection & Muscle Car Restoration.
