Presented by Onion Lake Enterprises, the two-day event features 30 Indian Relay Racing teams from across Alberta and Saskatchewan competing in what organizers describe as the “extreme sport of horse racing.”

The excitement kicks off Saturday, July 25, with gates opening at 5 p.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. and racing beginning at 7 p.m. On Sunday, July 26, the races start at 1 p.m.

The event comes as relay racing gains broader national attention, having been featured on television during the Calgary Stampede’s nightly broadcasts for the first time this year.

Organizers say the weekend offers families a chance to celebrate Indigenous culture, sport and history.

Tickets and additional details are available online at www.lloydex.com.
