Onion Lake RCMP said officers were on regular patrol on Aug. 13 at about 4:15 p.m. when they spotted a man known to have active warrants. When police approached, the man fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

Officers located and arrested the suspect at a nearby residence a short time later.

Jason Fryingpan, of Onion Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with one count of resisting or obstructing a public officer under the Criminal Code.

Police said Fryingpan was also executed on outstanding warrants from Onion Lake RCMP, including charges of failing to comply and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

Fryingpan appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Monday.
