Onion Lake RCMP say officers responded to a report on Aug. 11 that a man had threatened someone and damaged their vehicle. Investigators located the suspect in a moving vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over.

The vehicle crashed into a ditch shortly after, where police arrested one occupant. Three other suspects fled on foot into the surrounding area.

RCMP officers, supported by police dog units from both Saskatchewan and Alberta along with a drone operator, searched the area and tracked down the remaining three suspects.

Kendall Cardinal, 27, of Onion Lake Cree Nation, faces several charges, including flight from a peace officer, uttering threats, mischief over $5,000 and resisting a public officer.

Timothy Weeseekase, 36, is charged with resisting a public officer and failure to comply with court conditions. Dennis Chief, 22, faces two counts of failure to comply and William Weeseekase, 34, is charged with resisting a public officer.

Cardinal, Timothy Weeseekase and Chief made their first court appearances in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Monday, Aug. 17. William Weeseekase is scheduled to appear in court in Onion Lake on Oct. 21.
