Courtney Grant’s five-goal weekend powered the Lakeland College Rustlers to a weekend sweep in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) women’s soccer action.

The Rustlers opened their weekend with a dominant 6-0 victory over The King’s University Eagles on Saturday before following up with a 4-0 shutout against the Keyano College Huskies on Sunday at CNR Field.
Grant set the tone early on Saturday, delivering a four-goal performance to lead a six-goal first-half surge. The forward opened the scoring in the 12th minute off a setup from Lola Bassett and added her second just two minutes later via a pass from Katelyn Dyck.
Lindsey Slusar made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute off a feed from Grant, before Dyck buried a pass from Mya Jaremco in the 32nd minute. Grant secured her hat trick in the 34th minute on a pass from Cierra Nuttall and capped the first-half onslaught with an unassisted tally in the 39th minute.
Lakeland (4-1) outshot King’s 21-3 overall and held a 17-2 mark in shots on target. Goalkeepers Peyton Arnott and Kayla Ord combined for the clean sheet, with Arnott earning the win after a quiet first half and Ord making two saves in second-half relief. Eagles keeper Alyssa Maitland turned aside 11 shots.
On Sunday, the Rustlers kept their foot on the gas against Keyano. Slusar got Lakeland on the board early in the fourth minute off a Grant pass to carry a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Grant doubled the lead five minutes into the second half off a pass from Slusar before setting up Dyck in the 66th minute. Dyck completed her brace in the 86th minute, assisted by Robyn Fersovich, to seal the win.
Lakeland outshot Keyano 23-5 overall and 13-3 on goal. Ord made three saves to claim the shutout for the Rustlers.
The Rustlers hit the road this weekend to visit The King’s University Eagles on Sept. 26 and the Concordia University Thunder on Sept. 27.
