A 40-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal targeted shooting in Lloydminster has been taken into custody.

Lloydminster RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit announced Sept. 23 that Randy Lysohirka was located and arrested without incident following a flood of community tips.
Lysohirka was wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder following an incident on the morning of Sept. 21. Emergency crews responded about 11 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the area of 50 Ave. and 47 St., where 22-year-old Nolan Whitestone was found dead.
Investigators identified Lysohirka as a suspect after reviewing scene footage and issued a public appeal, warning that he was considered armed and dangerous.
“We want to once again thank the public for their assistance throughout this investigation,” said Sgt. Thomas Weiers of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit. “It is thanks to witnesses at the scene as well as tips from the public that we were able to identify, locate and arrest the suspect.”
Lysohirka is currently being held in custody awaiting an appearance before a justice of the peace to set a future court date.
