The project is backed by a $620,000 grant from the provincial government’s Investment and Growth Fund (IGF). The expansion is expected to create 16 permanent full-time positions alongside 20 temporary construction jobs.
The global tech company established its Alberta operations in 2019. It manufactures microscopic sensors for vehicle safety, medical diagnostics, cancer research, and gas detection.
Alberta’s jobs minister Joseph Schow said the grant helps secure high-impact projects. These investments ultimately strengthen the province’s advanced manufacturing sector.
Teledyne will use the funds to buy new wafer processing, inspection, and automation equipment. It will also modify the facility to scale up production.
Steve Bonham, plant manager for Teledyne MEMS Edmonton, called the expansion a vote of confidence in the region’s technical talent and innovation ecosystem.
According to provincial data, the IGF has committed nearly $28 million in Budget 2026. Since its inception in late 2021, the fund has issued 18 grants, drawing more than $1 billion in private capital investment to the province.
