Saskatchewan’s merchandise exports rose 11.6 per cent during the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period last year, driven by strong international demand for the province’s commodities.

Data released by Statistics Canada shows international merchandise exports from the province reached $24.4 billion between January and June. The growth places Saskatchewan second among Canadian provinces for year-to-date export expansion.
Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding attributed the increase to the province’s industrial and agricultural sectors.
“This strong growth is a testament to the hard work of Saskatchewan producers, manufacturers and exporters,” Kaeding said in a release. “Their success in international markets helps attract investment, create jobs and showcase our province as the reliable supplier the world depends on.”
The export gains build on broader economic growth reported by Statistics Canada, which showed Saskatchewan’s real gross domestic product reached a record $85.4 billion in 2025 — a 2.2 per cent increase that outpaced the national average of 1.7 per cent.
Private capital investment in the province also rose 12 per cent last year to $13.6 billion, leading all provinces in investment growth.
