What makes someone a true Lloydminster resident?
Is it being born here? Growing up here? Surviving enough winters to earn the right to complain about them?

In most communities, the answer is simple. You live there, work there and call it home.
But Lloydminster is different.
We are the Border City, where crossing from Alberta into Saskatchewan can mean travelling a few blocks. We understand that 50 Ave. is more than just another street and that a simple conversation about taxes, insurance or shopping can quickly become a provincial debate.
But being a true Border City resident is about more than knowing which side of the line you are standing on.
Lloydminster has been built by people who came from somewhere else. Some arrived for work, family or opportunity, intending to stay only a short time. Years later, they are still here.
At some point, the temporary stop becomes home.
You become a true resident when you stop calling Lloydminster “this place” and start calling it “our city.”
You care about traffic. You recognize people at the grocery store. You support local businesses, attend community events or volunteer when help is needed.
You do not have to agree with everything happening at city hall. In fact, having an opinion about how the city could improve is often a sign that you care.
A true Border City resident is not defined by where they were born or how long they have lived here.
It is someone who has decided Lloydminster is home.
Everything else is just a matter of which side of 50 Ave. you happen to be standing on.
