Beginning Oct. 1, non-profit organization Circular Materials took over management of the city’s residential recycling services under the provincial framework, with Integrity Waste Solutions handling collection on its behalf.

The shift transfers the financial and operational responsibility of managing recyclable packaging and paper products from municipal taxpayers to the producers supplying the materials.

Under the new management, residents can now recycle an expanded range of items, including glass bottles and jars, flexible plastic packaging such as chip bags and pouches, foam packaging and toothpaste tubes. These add to previously accepted items like cardboard, paper, cartons, plastic containers, metal cans and aerosol containers.

Despite the addition of new accepted materials, set-out procedures and collection schedules for residents remain unchanged. Blue or clear recycling bags must still be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on scheduled collection days, positioned at least one metre away from other objects, with cardboard flattened and broken down.

As part of the municipal transition, Lloydminster residents will receive a temporary monthly rebate of $3.82 on their utility bills from October through December 2026.

The City of Lloydminster will retain responsibility for garbage and organics collection, with service continuing uninterrupted through GFL Environmental. Additional details and the complete list of accepted materials are available at Lloydminster.ca/Recycling.
