An 88-year-old Lloydminster man has died following a two-vehicle collision north of the city on Monday evening.

Maidstone RCMP say they were called to a crash at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 798 — about 12 kilometres north of Lloydminster — at about 6 p.m. on Nov. 24. Emergency medical services and the Lloydminster Rescue Squad also responded.

Investigators determined a car and a truck collided. The truck’s driver and passenger were taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The driver of the car was transported to hospital by EMS, where he was later pronounced dead. Police have notified his family.

Maidstone RCMP, with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Police thanked the Lloydminster Rescue Squad for providing first aid and traffic control at the scene.
