Trade and export development minister Warren Kaeding said Saskatchewan products continue to grow in value, creating jobs and supporting infrastructure at home.

“Saskatchewan exports are essential for creating jobs and providing services and infrastructure that ensure the great quality of life for the people of Saskatchewan,” Kaeding said. “This government is committed to continuing to fight for our exporters, find new markets and grow existing ones.”

The province faced disruptions in traditional markets in 2025 due to international trade disputes, tariffs and geopolitical events, but exports found new destinations and increased in value.

Highlights for the first nine months of 2025 include:

  • Brazil imported $1.3 billion of Saskatchewan products, primarily potash.
  • Exports to Japan grew almost 50 per cent to nearly $900 million, mainly in canola seed and wheat.
  • Peru’s imports rose 44 per cent to $344 million, focused on wheat, lentils and canola oil.
  • ASEAN countries imported $1.6 billion, up 36 per cent, largely in potash, wheat and wood pulp. Malaysia’s imports grew 31 per cent to over $300 million, while Indonesia’s rose 23 per cent to $824 million.
  • In Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, exports increased about 25 per cent per region, collectively worth roughly $4 billion.
  • The United Kingdom imported $502 million, up 68 per cent, mainly uranium and wheat.
  • Algeria imported $508 million in agri-food products, up 45 per cent.
  • The United Arab Emirates imported $353 million, up more than 25 per cent, largely lentils and canola seed.

Kaeding credited the province’s nine international trade and investment offices for helping Saskatchewan producers access new markets.

Since 2007, when the value of Saskatchewan exports was $19.8 billion, exports have climbed to nearly $50 billion on average over the past three years.
