Once you met Marty Guy, you couldn’t help but like him. He was genuine, kind and always greeted you with a warm smile. If you looked up “car guy” in the dictionary you should see a picture of Marty, whether it was restoring cars, going to car shows or getting behind the wheel and driving for hours. He loved everything about it. Especially anything Ford, Mercury, or Lincoln related, and of course his dream car the 1969 Mustang Mach 1428 Cobra Jet. Marty was great with people and through the years became confident and experienced in the agricultural equipment industry, he enjoyed the back and forth with customers and the comradery with his coworkers. Last year he had rejoined The Tingley Group in Lloydminster as their Branch Manager, he was incredibly happy there, content in his career and the real friendships he had with made with his staff. The true love of Marty’s life was his son Nick. Everything changed for him when Nick was born. He was Nick’s biggest fan at hockey games and even when Nick lived in a whole different province would drive wintery roads to watch him in the net. Nick had a gentle way of opening Marty up, coaxing him to try new things, look at things from a different perspective. Nick will miss their humorous debates and the regular texts signed like a letter “Love, Dad”. He was a constant cheerleader in anything Nick took on and was always happy to brag about all that his son was accomplishing. After Nick ran a half marathon last year, Marty said how proud he was that Nick was always open to trying something new, something Marty knew Nick was teaching him to do. Marty was a humble man and would be overwhelmed by the amount of people who loved him. A person’s life is made of millions of moments; Marty gave us so many wonderful moments and memories and although he will be dearly missed, he will be with us for a lifetime. He was an amazing father, son, brother, and friend. Marty is survived by his son Nick, his mother Marlene, his brother Monty (Bobbi-Jo Veltikold) nephew and nieces Logan, Shelby and London and his brother Mark. Marty is predeceased by his father John Guy. Marty’s family would like to thank everyone (there were many) who reached out either directly or indirectly in sympathy and support. A special thanks to Rayvn Schreiber and Terry Dmyterko for being there for Marty at Lloydminster Hospital when we couldn’t be, and for being the family he saw each day at work. And Miles Schiller, Marty’s lifelong friend who’s support and care at this time can’t be measured. A Celebration of Life for Marty’s family and close friends will be held at The Elks Hall, St.Walburg. Friday, June 9th from 1-4 pm. Donations in Marty’s name can be made to the St.Walburg Blueberry Festival Car Show.
