The Red Cross along with every radio station across Alberta is getting together Wednesday for the Alberta Day of caring for Jasper.
On that day, according to a website set up by the Red Cross for the event, donations will allow the Canadian Red Cross to provide people with humanitarian aid such as lodging support, financial assistance, and relief supplies.
Both the Government of Canada as well as the Government of Alberta have also declared they will match dollar for dollar every donation to the organizations Alberta Fires Appeal for the next 30 days.
“Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used for assisting those impacted in Jasper and other affected areas in Alberta with immediate and ongoing relief,” according to a statement on the website. This includes “financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, as well as supporting community preparedness and risk reduction for future all-hazard disaster events within Alberta.”
If you are interested on that day you can also bring all your bottles to any bottle depot with and say “these are for Jasper” and the money will be donated to the fund.
Listen to your local radio stations in Alberta for more information on Wednesday.
