Chris King's termination as head coach of the Lakeland College Rustlers women's basketball team shocked the Lloydminster sports community.
The Rustlers announced King was no longer the team's head coach in an email statement on Dec. 5.
"Chris King is no longer the head coach," read the statement. "Work is underway to hire an interim head coach for the team. The Rustlers resume play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference on Jan. 17."
The college isn't saying much due to legal obligations. On Dec. 6, however, the Rustlers informed the Meridian Source "We are working with student athletes to supply them with the supports they need as we work through this transition."
More information will be made public when available.
