Conservative party profile: Shannon Stubbs

With cost of living, agriculture, and the energy sector at the forefront for voters in Lloydminster and Lakeland, Conservative Party incumbent Shannon Stubbs says her party is offering practical solutions to rebuild the local economy, support farmers, and increase affordability.

“Canada should be the world’s energy producer and supplier of choice,” said Stubbs. “We must prioritize Canadian energy independence and exports over the dictatorship oil imports funded by the Liberals.”

Stubbs supports increased energy production and infrastructure and argues federal policies must “recognize oil and gas production, transportation, and refining is not the problem, it’s the solution.”

However, her plan includes axing the carbon tax, repealing the ban on internal combustion engines and scrapping additional fuel standards, which drive up costs across agriculture and rural development.

Stubbs believes reducing taxes and inflationary spending is key to affordability.

“Cutting the carbon and fuel taxes will lower costs across the food supply chain. We’ll also cut GST on new-home builds—saving buyers up to $30,000—and reward municipalities that exceed housing targets,” said Stubbs. “We need outcome-based, science-based policies, not out-of-touch and ideological mandates,” she said.

Agriculture and infrastructure

For farmers facing high input costs and global market uncertainty, Stubbs points to long-standing Conservative commitments to cutting red tape and renegotiating international trade agreements. Stubbs also stresses the need to protect the right to repair farm equipment and ensure affordability.

“We’ll immediately address tariff barriers on canola and renegotiate CUSMA (Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement) to resolve trade uncertainty,” she said. “We’ll repeal regulations that hurt farmers and ranchers and support policies that keep equipment and operations efficient and cost-effective.”

On rural infrastructure, she says increased pipeline development will free up rail space for agricultural goods, while inter-switching will lower costs and increase rail efficiency.

High-speed, affordable broadband in remote areas is also a priority.

“Conservatives will fast-track essential infrastructure with quicker approvals, shovel-ready zones, and targeted support for resource regions,” said Stubbs.

Healthcare and Indigenous affairs

On health care, she supports a national Blue Seal licensing standard to remove interprovincial barriers for doctors, nurses, and other regulated professionals. The plan also includes focused immigration for health-care workers and expanded mental health and addiction treatment.

Furthermore, she’s advocated for Lloydminster’s unique cross-border challenges on a federal level.

“I’ve worked consistently with local leaders to push for better coordination in health care, education, and licensing,” she said. “A Conservative government would cut federal red tape and support harmonization across jurisdictions.”

Meanwhile, Stubbs has also maintained strong relationships with Indigenous communities across Lakeland, including five First Nations and four Métis settlements.

She says the Conservatives would create an optional First Nations resource charge, ceding federal tax room to allow direct community benefits from energy and infrastructure development.

“We believe in reconciliACTION—real partnerships and ownership, not poverty management,” she said. “I’ll continue working with Indigenous leaders on housing, mental health, youth supports, and access to private-sector opportunities.”

Crime and conclusion

Rural crime remains a top priority for Stubbs, who introduced a motion in Parliament calling for better RCMP resources, crime prevention, and judicial reform.

“We’ll stop the Liberal revolving door of bail and house arrest for serious and repeat crimes,” she said. “Conservatives will bring in true life sentences for human traffickers, drug traffickers, and gangsters—while protecting law-abiding firearms owners.”

On youth employment, Stubbs says the Conservatives will fund training halls and reinstate apprenticeship grants cancelled by the Liberals. A rapid EI system and cross-province trade credential recognition are also part of her plan.

“We’ll skill-up 350,000 young workers and ensure access for small unions and rural communities,” she said.

“Our approach is low taxes, less red tape, and a pro-development strategy that delivers real jobs, real results, and real hope for communities like Lloydminster and across Lakeland,” said Stubbs.
