The Astec Safety Challenge has been postponed until Jan. 6-10, 2027.
Organizers made the decision to better align with the ramp-up to the 2026 Winter Olympics. The change will allow international teams, which have attended the professional curling event since its inception in 2022, to attend without interfering with restricted pre-Games schedules.

“Our date on the calendar is critically important. It’s essential in attracting the overall quality of the professional curling teams that played in the event,” said Astec Safety in an April 23 press release.

“That field, comprised of GSOC, national, world, and Olympic champions, ensured value for all involved, from corporate partners and curling fans to the business community in Lloydminster region.
“Diluting the event and value proposition in any way is not acceptable.”
The press release also explained the second week of January is the ideal time as it’s right before the Grand Slam of Curling and the Canadian Brier Championships.
