A pair of City of Lloydminster appeal boards have received member appointments.

The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board and the Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board work on reviewing appeals as they come.
The intermunicipal board is an agreement between neighbouring municipalities on the Alberta side.
“It’s a great opportunity to work with neighbouring municipalities, especially on the Alberta side,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “(We) have the opportunity to help them out if they’re not able to find enough people to make that subdivision appeal board work.”
Costs associated with the board aren’t shouldered by Lloydminster.
“All of those costs are invoiced to the municipality that requires those services,” said Shannon Rowan, Legislative Services coordinator, explaining they invoice fees annually for administrative services.
Coun. Michele Charles Gustafson asked how members of the committee are chosen.
“We generally reach out to members of the public we feel would be a good fit,” said Rowan. “People can also come and put their name forward.”
Aalbers says there’s always opportunities to volunteer with the city.
“The city is always looking for people interested in serving the community in various formats,” he said. “If someone you know is interested just have them reach out to the city manager’s office. That’ll be the starting point.”

Tom Schinold – Member – expiring May 29, 2027

Lisa Mudry – Clerk – Feb. 10, 2028.
