An Indigenous protest has closed 50 Ave. between 52 St. and 54 St.

Organizers provided the following statement.

“The Rooted Warrior Society, in partnership with Dene, Nehiyaw (Cree), and Anishnabe leadership, announces the launch of a powerful land-based movement to restore Indigenous law, governance and sacred responsibilities to the lands and waters of Turtle Island,” said Jordan Robinson, director of the Rooted Warrior Society

“This grassroots unity movement calls for an immediate return to the traditional council fire system, a denouncement of the colonial Indian Act system, and a reawakening of ancestral governance through Indigenous laws, teachings and ceremonies. This is not just a protest—it is a resurgence.

“We are not asking permission. We are asserting inherent rights, sovereign laws, and sacred responsibilities gifted to us by the Creator. The Thunderbird has returned. The council fires are being relit. The sleeping giants are awakening.”

The movement includes:

  • Blockade actions to protect land, water, and sacred burial grounds from further exploitation,
  • Revival of Sundance, sweat lodge, and community ceremony grounds across traditional territories,
  • Emergency training camps and hide camps to reconnect youth with ancestral survival skills and warrior teachings,
  • Legal and land reclamation campaigns rooted in natural law, the medicine wheel, and treaty obligations.

Organizers also stated the Rooted Warrior Society offers a grounded, ancestral alternative rooted in balance, humility and sacred kinship with the Earth as the climate crisis accelerates and colonial systems collapse.

The society invites all Nations, allies and truth-seekers to join the movement.

“This is not about hatred,” said an Elder with the Society. “It’s about healing through truth, land, law and spirit. Reconciliation must become restoration.”

Upcoming Actions & Events:

  • Council Fire Gathering: May 25/2025
  • Land Back Blockade Launch: see Facebook group
  • Basic Warrior Training Camp: June/2025

There is no determination as to how long the roadway will be closed.

RCMP have set up roadblocks to stop traffic from approaching. Protestors, however, stated they will let traffic through occasionally.

  1. Are they gonna backpay my proprety tax?
Are they even representatives of the 1st nation community or do they just hide under the umbrella to attack they system?

Why are they harrassing the people from a small industrial town? Why aren’t they in Ottawa protesting their BS system that they are stuck into.

    Follow the money…
