Vintage tractors lined the site while kids rode on toy tractors and families enjoyed a variety of pies.

“You don’t get much better than tractors for many people,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “Pie just goes naturally with tractors.”

Aalbers praised the park’s role in connecting people with local history.

“New generations coming up, as well as visitors and people that move to our community, want to learn a little bit more,” he said. “Weaver Heritage Park and the museum are an excellent opportunity (to do that).”

The Friends of Weaver Heritage Park, in partnership with the City of Lloydminster and the Lloydminster Heritage Society, organized the event.

“We’re having a little event to support our group,” said co-organizer Otis Rusling. “We’re also working with the Heritage Society to get them a little more exposure.”

Rain hurt last year’s Heritage Day turnout. This year’s event, however, gave tractors and their caretakers a second chance to shine.

“They put a lot of work into their equipment,” said Rusling. “We’re just trying to help them get a little more exposure.”

Visitors could choose from apple, pumpkin, cherry, and other pies, which were sold in support of the Friends of Weaver Heritage Park.
