A pancake breakfast in Lloyd looked to fill a gap in multiple sclerosis (MS) fundraising.

The breakfast took place in the Integra Engineering Ltd parking lot on May 28.

For $5, people could get a “scrumptious breakfast spread,” and a $20 donation got you into a draw for door prizes.

The pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice were part of their 13th fundraiser for the cause. Landis Graf a manager with Integra, explained why MS was an important cause to support.

“We had quite a few staff members here who have family or friends with MS,” said Graf. “We were a big part of walking in the MS Walk when that was a thing here in Lloyd. It was always a huge success, and it was a great event.”

With the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event didn’t return. They are hoping to help pick up the slack. She explained that fundraising has a significant impact locally.

“This part of Alberta has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, and no one knows why,” said Graf. “So that’s something I think we should be focusing on as far as research and development.”

Graf says almost everyone knows someone who suffers from MS locally.

“We all come in contact with somebody who’s living with it, and it can be debilitating for some,” said Graf. “So I just think it’s great to bring awareness to it.”

They were thrilled with the turnout and weather for the event.
