Both the County of Vermilion River and Britannia Fire Department attended fires over the past week.
At approximately 8 p.m. on May 24, the Blackfoot Fire and Rescue was dispatched to reports of a bale fire.
Upon arrival, over a dozen bales of hay were found to be burning.
With the help of the farmer, crews managed to break apart the bales and douse the fire after approximately four hours.
At about 7 p.m. on May 26, a structure fire call near Hillmond was downgraded to a grass fire. Britannia Fire Department crews responded with Pumper 2 and later Pumper 1, using local water support. SaskPower attended due to trees on power lines. No injuries reported. Firefighters remained on scene for over 8 hours.
