Lloydminster RCMP crime reduction unit officers were conducting patrols on April 21 when they identified a stolen vehicle parked in the Park Manor area. Police say two men fled on foot when officers approached.
Following a brief chase, both suspects were arrested. A search incidental to arrest led to the seizure of the vehicle’s keys and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
Police say a subsequent search of the stolen vehicle uncovered additional illicit substances, including suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and morphine. Officers also seized unstamped cigarettes, cash and items consistent with drug trafficking.
Several weapons were also found in the vehicle, including a billy club, a machete and multiple knives.
James Blohm, 37, of Bashaw, Alta., is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and obstructing a peace officer.
William Montana, 41, of Meadow Lake, Sask., faces similar charges, including two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He is also charged with two counts of obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with a probation order.
Both men are scheduled to appear in Saskatchewan provincial court in Lloydminster on April 27.
