Data released on May 14 for March 2026 shows the province captured the number two spot nationwide for year-over-year wholesale trade growth. The total value of goods traded throughout the month reached $4.1 billion.

The sector also marked a 2.5 per cent bump in month-over-month growth compared to February 2026.

Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding said the numbers signal strong global demand for Saskatchewan goods, which are currently shipped to more than 160 markets worldwide.

“Proving that our efforts to protect businesses and communities are paying off,” Kaeding said in a statement. “As we attract more investment, we see more money come into the province, and that allows us to invest in the supports and services Saskatchewan people rely on.”

The growth follows a strong economic year for the province. Statistics Canada’s latest GDP numbers show Saskatchewan’s real GDP reached an all-time high of $85.4 billion in 2025, a 2.2 per cent increase that sits well above the national average of 1.6 per cent.

Additionally, private capital investment in the province rose 12 per cent last year to $13.6 billion, ranking first among Canadian provinces. Officials credit the momentum to the province’s ongoing investment attraction strategy.

The Statistics Canada wholesale trade figures measure the value of bulk goods purchased for resale, excluding petroleum, petroleum products, other hydrocarbons, oilseed and grain.
