Tractors, pies and tug of war combined to pull off a day of fun in Lloydminster.
The second annual event packed Weaver Heritage Park on a sunny Lloydminster Saturday.

“This is the grand opening of the park for the year,” said Otis Rusling, president of the Friends of Weaver Heritage Park board at the May 23 event.
The name of the event was indicative of what residents got to experience.
“As you can see, we got the tractors outside and lined up,” he said.
Some recently restored tractors were on display, shining in their new coats of paint.
“The heritage society does a lot of work to restore those tractors,” said Rusling.

In addition to the recently restored tractors, an old Lloydminster Fire Department vehicle was also on display.
The event serves as the opening of the park, along with a chance for the Friends of Weaver Heritage Park to fundraise.
“It’s really an awareness day,” said Rusling. “We’re selling some pie, thanks to the Lloydminster and District Co-op, who donated it.”
This year, the event also featured a tug of war.
“We’ve invited some people down here to have a tug of war,” he said. “It’s just a fun thing; win or lose, we’re going to have some pie and ice cream.”
Rusling also explained some of the work Friends of Weaver Heritage Park does.
“Over the past, we’ve fundraised for the Rendell House, we did some work on the log cabin, we bought the pedal tractors for the city,” he said. “We’re in the process of building a replica Turvy Station.”
