Lobsters were brought into town in style for the Rotary Club of Lloydminster’s Lobsterfest, thanks to an aptly titled lobster chauffeur.

The annual fundraiser featured lobsters as fresh as can be for eventgoers to enjoy.
“They get flown in from the East Coast,” said Peter Brown, president of the Rotary Club of Lloydminster. “They were purchased a couple of days ago. They got on a plane. We have a lobster chauffeur that goes and picks them up from the airport and brings them back today, and you get fresh lobster.”
The grills were firing and the boiler was steaming as food was prepared minutes before dinner.

“We’re very fortunate, very blessed to have a good group of people that are very skilled and have done this year over year. They’re very good at cooking lobster,” Brown said.
Lobsterfest was another sellout for the club.
“We’ll do about 550 lobsters today — that’s roughly how many tickets went out,” he said. “We had another sellout this year.”
The WLS Convention Centre, which played host to Lobsterfest, was packed with tables, red and lobster-shaped balloons and a large lobster greeting people as they arrived.
“The committee came in yesterday morning at 11 a.m. and got decorating,” Brown said. “They did a good job; it looks fabulous.”
Funding from the event supports the president’s project.
“Every year, there’s different kinds of projects that Rotary digs into. The president always has a project each year,” he said. “Past president Mike Sidoryk used his toward the ultrasound machine at the hospital. Right now, I’m currently in the process of sorting out where this year’s president’s project will go.”
The event also featured the musical styling of Jordyn Pollard and The Dirt Rich Band.
“This is one of my favourite events,” Brown explained. “Lots of people come out, have a good time and enjoy good music.”
