The rain held off long enough for some golf in support of a good cause.
The Lloydminster and Area Brain Injury Society (LABIS) hosted its annual charity golf tournament at Rolling Green Fairways on June 4.

The event serves as a major fundraiser for the organization.
“This is our fifth annual charity golf tournament and it’s one of our three sports-related fundraisers over the course of the summer,” said Kelly Mason, LABIS communication and events co-ordinator.
He said the event has always been successful in helping them raise funds.
“It generally is successful. The weather’s going to be fantastic and everybody’s enthusiastic for it,” he said at the event.
Mason pointed out that registration has been good this year.
“We get about three quarters to full every year,” he said.
The funds raised help with the variety of programs LABIS offers.
“The funding helps with the programs that we have set up,” he said. “We have some in-house programs to help brain injured persons.”
LABIS’ programming helps those with an acquired brain injury and offers activities to get people socializing and active.
“We have an outreach program that goes to houses and to the different homes in Lloyd to interact with them,” said Mason. “We have a walking program at the Servus Sports Centre twice a week where they go and they walk the track and get active.”
The golf tournament also featured dinner and a silent auction following the tournament.
Looking ahead, LABIS is gearing up to celebrate a major milestone.
“The 40th anniversary is this year, that’s a major event for us,” he said, with details to follow prior to the official event.
