Two women are facing weapons and drug charges following a late-night traffic stop in Onion Lake earlier this month.

Onion Lake RCMP say officers pulled over a vehicle in the community at about 1 a.m. on July 12 after noticing illegal tobacco inside in plain view. Both the driver and passenger were arrested at the scene.
During a search of the driver, police seized an imitation firearm. Officers searching the passenger found a small amount of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded unstamped tobacco, edged weapons and drug-trafficking paraphernalia.
Carissa Giant, 32, of Edmonton, has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.
Tiara Dillon, 33, of Onion Lake, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of methamphetamine.
Both women made their first court appearance in Onion Lake on July 13.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
