Saskatchewan RCMP has requested an external independent investigation into an arrest on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation that resulted in three people taken into custody early Monday morning.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has accepted the request and will conduct the investigation.
Police say the decision to involve the oversight body was made in the interest of transparency and public concern surrounding the incident.
The officers involved in the arrest will remain on duty during the course of the investigation.
On July 27, Loon Lake RCMP responded to a report of a drug-impaired individual in the community about 5 a.m., leading to the arrest of two wanted men and a woman.
Rose Georgina Angus, 40, was charged with assaulting police officers, resisting arrest, obstruction, and cocaine possession, while Lane Anthony Purves, 30 and Rayden Joe Kytwayhat, 28, were taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
