Police responded to a report of a possible firearm at the school at 11:07 a.m. on Oct. 7, placing the facility under an immediate lockdown as a precaution. Responding officers located and arrested a youth suspect without incident within nine minutes of the initial 911 call.

Following a thorough investigation, officers determined no weapon was present.

Because the suspect is a youth, police cannot release any identifying details.

“Lloydminster RCMP recognize that reports of firearms or violence in a school can be traumatic for students, staff, parents, and the broader community,” said Sgt. Christopher Byford of the Lloydminster RCMP.

Byford commended school staff for implementing emergency response procedures quickly and effectively, noting their preparedness contributed to a safe resolution.

Police continue to investigate the incident and take all reports of school threats seriously. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Lloydminster RCMP detachment at 780-808-8300.
