Officers with the Lloydminster Saskatchewan trafficking response team (STRT) were conducting proactive patrols on April 17 when they spotted a man outside a motel on 44 St. who was known to be wanted on outstanding warrants.
Police say officers approached the man and advised him he was under arrest, but he fled on foot. He was located a short time later and a small amount of methamphetamine and cocaine was allegedly found during his arrest.
Following further investigation, officers obtained a warrant to search a motel room.
RCMP say the search resulted in the seizure of about 28 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm with a removed serial number and ammunition.
Mackenzie Cannapotatoe, 25, of Onion Lake, is charged with multiple offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and methamphetamine, resisting a peace officer and several firearms-related charges.
He also faces seven counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Cannapotatoe was also arrested on outstanding warrants and for breaching a conditional sentence order.
He was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in provincial court in North Battleford on April 20.
