Residents have until May 14 to review and comment on the draft Southwest Area Structure Plan (SWASP), a document intended to provide long-term guidance for the development of approximately 17 quarter sections of land.

City officials noted Thursday that while the plan sets the framework for future land use and policy, it does not immediately trigger construction. Actual development remains dependent on market conditions and developer interest.

The current draft includes a refined land-use concept and specific policies shaped by earlier rounds of public engagement. The city says feedback from this final phase will be used to polish the plan before it is submitted to council for a final decision.

Residents can participate in the engagement process through the following channels:

  • Online: Feedback can be submitted at yourvoicelloyd.ca/SWASP until May 14.
  • In-person: An open house is scheduled for April 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Servus Sports Centre in the OTS Room.
  • Paper submissions: Physical copies are available at City Hall and the Operations Centre. These must be returned by midnight on May 14.

Detailed documents and the full draft plan are available on the city’s engagement website.
