Between January and December 2025, the Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT) executed 375 search warrants, resulting in 1,048 arrests. The operations led to the seizure of more than 77 kilograms of illicit drugs, 123 illegal firearms and $365,000 in cash.

“The results speak for themselves,” community safety minister Michael Weger said in a statement. “Safer streets, stronger communities and a province that stands firmly behind the officers who serve it.”

The SERT initiative, which includes Crime Reduction Teams (CRT), the Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) and the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), was designed to provide “more boots on the ground” to disrupt organized crime and drug trafficking.

Notable operations in 2025 included a May traffic stop where officers intercepted methamphetamine contaminated with fentanyl, leading to a public health alert. In December, a joint investigation in central Saskatchewan resulted in the seizure of nearly nine kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine along with six firearms.

Assistant Commissioner Robin McNeil, commanding officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP, credited the success to “co-ordinated, province-wide effort” and collaboration with local detachments.

“SERT units work proactively to reduce serious crime,” McNeil said, noting the teams are effectively dismantling criminal networks that operate across jurisdictional borders.

The provincial government continues to fund these specialized units as part of a broader strategy to address rising crime rates and improve public safety in both urban and rural communities.
