Figures released by Statistics Canada show the province’s manufacturing sales jumped 20.6 per cent in March compared to February, reaching a total of $2 billion.

The seasonally adjusted increase placed Saskatchewan first among all Canadian provinces for month-over-month growth in the sector.

“Manufacturing plays a vital role in our province’s economy,” trade and export development minister Warren Kaeding said in a media release.

Kaeding attributed the momentum to a competitive local business environment that he says is attracting private investment and driving economic gains.

On a yearly basis, Saskatchewan also posted strong figures. Manufacturing sales climbed 18.3 per cent between March 2025 and March 2026, marking the third-highest year-over-year percentage growth in Canada.

The manufacturing spike aligns with broader economic growth in the province. Recent gross domestic product data from Statistics Canada indicates Saskatchewan’s real GDP grew by 2.2 per cent in 2025 to hit a record $85.4 billion, sitting comfortably above the national average growth rate of 1.6 per cent.

Government officials point to a 12 per cent increase in private capital investment last year — which rose to $13.6 billion — as a key driver behind the province’s economic performance.
