Rarely do officers work alone; we rely heavily on partner agencies like the Little Bear Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, a division of Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services.

The city and surrounding communities are incredibly fortunate to have them.
Little Bear is an invaluable partner when investigating cases where children or youths are survivors of abuse or violence.
When a report is received, Little Bear is immediately involved. Everything they do supports survivors and their families during deeply challenging times. The centre is warm and welcoming, designed from the hallways to the rooms with child-oriented comfort in mind to ease anxiety during investigations and daunting court processes.

The Lloydminster RCMP detachment works hand-in-hand with Little Bear’s trained, dedicated staff.
Our specially trained Child Forensic Interviewers conduct interviews at the centre, providing a non-threatening, scientifically sound environment accepted by the courts.
Officers and staff carefully minimize re-victimization, tailoring their response to each family’s unique needs — even when a caregiver is the accused.
Little Bear also facilitates vital meetings with Crown attorneys to prepare families for court, always keeping the survivor at the forefront. This is one of our detachment’s most important partnerships.
While they receive grant funding, they also accept donations and sell “Little Bear Books” to help families cover minor costs.
At Little Bear, every child has a voice, and every child’s voice matters!
Staff Sgt. Jerry Nutbown is the NCO in charge of the Lloydminster RCMP detachment’s General Investigation Section. Stay tuned for future online columns from the Lloydminster RCMP.
