The Bea Fisher Centre Inc. is gearing up for two major fundraising events this fall, including a growing pickleball tournament and a 1970s-themed ladies’ night.

The third annual Bea Fisher Centre Pickleball Tournament is set for Oct. 3 and 4 at the Servus Sports Centre, with registration continuing to build.
TD Bank is returning as the tournament’s title sponsor. The unsanctioned fundraiser has grown significantly since its inaugural year, increasing from 46 teams across three divisions in the first year to 86 teams across seven divisions the in second.
This year’s tournament will feature 11 divisions to accommodate players across a wide range of skill levels.
With about a month remaining before the event, nearly half of the projected registration spots have already been filled.
Players can expect plenty of games and activities, along with lounge services provided by Rolling Green Fairways and Sore Oilfield Services. Lunch will also be available by donation, featuring homemade soup, pies and Subway sandwiches.
The tournament is supported by prize and supplies sponsors Gmack Oilfield Services and Gryphon Benefits, along with several court sponsors.
Teams can register online for $80 through the Bea Fisher Centre website.
The centre will also host the second annual Mrs. Roper’s Romp, Lloydminster Chapter, on Oct. 30 at the WLS Convention Centre.
The 1970s-themed ladies’ night sold out in five days during its first year and is returning with a larger event.
The evening will feature games and activities, specialty drinks, a light lunch and dancing courtesy of First Class Entertainment. Organizers are expecting more than 400 women dressed in vintage mu’umu’us and curly red-haired wigs.
Border City Concrete is serving as the event’s title sponsor.
Tickets go on sale to the public next week for $75 each or $600 for a table of eight. Tickets will be available online through the Bea Fisher Centre website.
Proceeds from both events will support the Bea Fisher Centre and its work in the Lloydminster community.
