The City of Lloydminster is asking residents for input on proposed amendments to its Land Use Bylaw, aimed at clarifying policies, streamlining regulations and cutting red tape.

Feedback on Land Use Bylaw 05-2025 will be accepted until Thursday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m.
The proposed changes follow a commitment by Planning Services to conduct an administrative review six months after Council adopted the initial bylaw on June 9, 2025.
City officials say the revisions do not introduce major policy shifts or alter designated Land Use Districts. Instead, the updates focus on improving administrative efficiency and aligning regulations with current planning trends and provincial legislation.
Key amendments include:
- Correcting grammar, spelling and formatting throughout the document.
- Clarifying key terminology, administrative processes and conflicting policies.
- Introducing new land use categories to reflect emerging development trends.
- Adding flexibility in development regulations to reduce administrative delays.
- Adjusting mapping for improved clarity.

Planning Services will gather feedback from internal departments, external agencies and landowners before presenting a final recommendation to Council. The proposed amendments will go before Council during its regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
