Nominations are now open for the 2026 Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal, giving Border City residents a chance to recognize local volunteers who go above and beyond for their communities.
The province is accepting nominations until Oct. 31.
“Much of what is great about living in our province is made better by enthusiastic volunteers. From our hockey rinks to the Roughriders, from community choirs to symphony orchestras and from local 4-H clubs to the Canadian Western Agribition,” Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre said.

“When people excel at something that is so valuable to our way of life, they deserve special recognition. I urge all our citizens to consider nominating an exceptional volunteer in their community for the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal.”
The award was established in 1995 to formally recognize the selfless devotion of Saskatchewan volunteers and role models.
Individuals or groups are encouraged to nominate current or former long-term residents of Saskatchewan who go above and beyond for their community through acts of volunteerism.
Last year’s medal recognized volunteers from across the province for their contributions to community service.
The recognition comes as communities across the Border City region rely heavily on volunteer contributions, from National Volunteer Week celebrations to year-round service in local organizations.
Online nominations are encouraged, but the province will also accept nominations by mail, courier or in person.
