Dog lovers from across Western Canada will gather at the Lloyd Ex this weekend as the Lloydminster Kennel & Obedience Club hosts its 37th annual dog show.

The three-day event runs Sept. 25-27 and will feature conformation judging, obedience trials and rally obedience competitions.
The club has been part of the Lloydminster community since 1987, offering obedience classes, hosting canine sporting events and volunteering with local organizations.
Throughout the year, members organize Sprinters competitions, a timed 100-metre dash for dogs, and regularly visit long-term care facilities with their dogs.
Canine Good Neighbour testing Friday
One of the highlights of this weekend’s event will be Canine Good Neighbour testing on Friday at 6 p.m., which evaluates dogs on basic manners and behaviour in public settings.
The show will also include a memorial tribute to founding club member Jean Wobeser, who played a significant role in the club’s history and spent many years volunteering at the Lloyd Ex.
The tribute is planned for Saturday at about 5 p.m.
Steak night Saturday
The event will also feature a steak night on Saturday from 6-9 p.m.
The made-to-order AAA New York steak, prepared by the Lloyd Ex Grill, will be served fresh at the event, along with baked potato, garlic toast, Caesar salad, apple crisp and coffee or tea.
Over the years, the club has supported the community through volunteer work at the Vic Juba Community Theatre, donations to local organizations and participation in events such as the Lloyd Ex Fair parade.
Members say the annual dog show remains a chance to showcase the bond between dogs and their handlers while welcoming visitors to learn more about the sport.
The Lloydminster Kennel and Obedience Club encourages residents to attend the weekend event and learn more about dog training, obedience and responsible dog ownership.
