Saskatchewan potash exporter Canpotex has broken ground on a $500-million infrastructure upgrade at Neptune Bulk Terminals in Vancouver, aimed at boosting the province’s export capacity to overseas markets.

The investment will fund the replacement and refurbishment of equipment at the facility to strengthen the supply chain for international shipments.
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe joined Canpotex president and chief executive officer Gordon McKenzie for the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday.
“By moving more Saskatchewan potash to international markets, this project will create new opportunities and support good jobs and economic growth in our province as well as across Canada,” Moe said in a release.
Saskatoon-based Canpotex handles marketing and logistics for potash produced by Mosaic and Nutrien. The offshore exporter ships fertilizer to more than 40 countries across South America, the Indo-Pacific and other regions.
Peter Xotta, president and chief executive officer of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, said the terminal upgrade supports Canada’s broader efforts to expand trade beyond the United States.
Saskatchewan holds the world’s largest potash deposits. The province recorded $9 billion in potash exports in 2025, representing a 13.5 per cent increase from the previous year.
