New residents and newcomers to Lloydminster are invited to Welcome Home Day at Bud Miller All Seasons Park on Oct. 3.

The free event runs 12:30-3:30 p.m. and will feature a community barbecue, games, cultural performances and information booths from local organizations and service providers.
“Welcome Home Day is open to anyone who has recently moved to Lloydminster or wants to learn more about the community and the services available to residents,” said the City of Lloydminster.
The city’s Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and the Local Immigration Partnership are hosting the event.
Connecting newcomers with the Border City
Welcome Home Day is part of the City’s Welcome Home Program, which helps individuals and families settle into life in Lloydminster by connecting them with local resources.
The program provides information on recreation facilities, community supports, utilities, education and childcare, transportation, employment opportunities, events and retail services.
It also helps newcomers navigate Lloydminster’s unique bi-provincial community, where the Alberta-Saskatchewan border runs through the middle of the city.
Similar outreach efforts have included newcomer-focused events earlier this year aimed at building connections in the growing Border City population.
How to participate
The barbecue and activities are free while supplies last. All ages are welcome.
