A single mother’s social media plea was answered by so many people, she said the situation brought a community together.
Jaime Gaertner found herself in a difficult situation when wind blew over a tree in her yard, damaging her house, a truck in her driveway and blocked a pathway to Bud Miller All Seasons Park. By Friday afternoon, a social media post led to a community coming together to help out.
“People who didn’t have chainsaws went and bought chainsaws. At one time we had 10 people helping cut up this tree,” said Gaertner. “There are still good people out there who go out of their way to help.”
The list of individuals she wants to thank is lengthy, but a few came to mind. Royal Tree Services, Down and Dirty, Steamatic, her insurance company, and even a local dealership who found a vehicle to replace the one damaged by the tree.
“I cannot thank everybody enough. We had a call for help, and there were so many selfless people that dropped everything to come here on a Friday afternoon and help,” said Jaime. “I cannot tell you how grateful I am, because this was a lot… the help of the community made this so much easier.”
