Vermilion RCMP answer 218 calls in Dec.

Vermilion RCMP actively responded to over 200 calls for service in their area in December.

Of note, there were 48 calls related to property crimes, 19 person crimes, 35 traffic collisions and four suspicious person or vehicles.

On the property crime side, there were 15 mischief calls, 15 thefts, four break and enters, seven frauds and seven thefts of vehicles.

Additionally, they responded to four mental health-related calls and 10 spousal abuse calls.

They laid 41 charges over the month, 31 criminal code charges and nine provincial offences.

Meanwhile, three of those charges were related to failing to comply with conditions/court. Furthermore, 15 were related to property crimes and 12 were related to personal crimes.

The RCMP issued notices of administrative penalties to two individuals for driving while impaired.

In the 2024 calendar year, Vermilion RCMP attended to 3,188 calls and laid 708 charges, including 336 criminal charges.
