Seven individuals were named to the board, which serves to review appeals. Each individuals will sit on the board at different times as the board’s training lasts three years.
“The board is convened to hear any assessment appeals brought forward to assessment and taxation,” said Shannon Rowan, Legislative Services coordinator.
While the board may have council members sitting on it, they are only utilized if there are not enough members available.
“The council members are appointed to this board as secondary if we cannot achieve quorum,” said Rowan. “We try to leave them out of it if at all possible. With their experience with different things, it’s always valuable to have someone extra trained there.”
Council voted in favour of appointing the below people to the board:
Jonathan Torresan – Member – expiring Dec. 31, 2027
Darrell Dunn – Member – expiring Dec. 31, 2026
Brian Kimmel – Member – expiring Dec. 31
