In Rocky Mountain House at the age of 84. His celebration of life was held on May 9th 2025 in Evergreen, Alberta. My name is Owen Byrt. I am Bob Ruhl’s son-in-law, more than that we were very close friends. Robert Mark Ruhl was born May 3-1940 in Saskatoon and sadly left our world on April 30, 2025. Bobs family moved to Lloydminster when he was 6 years old. At age 11 he joined the Air Cadets. In his Teens Bob was very athletic, he played Football, Baseball, Track and was a completive diver (where he won numerous first place awards). At age 17 Bob joined the Airforce and was stationed out East. It didn’t take long though for Bob to became very home sick / love sick. He was given an Honorable discharge and then hitch hiked back to Lloydminster. Into the loving arms of his Jeannie Kroening. Bob and Jeannie were Married on April 30th, 1960. Bob was a Hunter and a Fishermen, anyone who has been in his house sees this with all the trophies on his walls. Many times through the years I would get a call in the middle of the night “I got a big one and we have to track it “tonight” or “you need to come pull me out. And bring some extra rope cuz I’m in deep. I would ask ok where are you at and he would reply with, Well go down this road then turn down this other road through the first or second gate follow the trail down into the coulee and when you think the road ends just keep coming you’ll find me. This was always in the dark of night. ( I always found him ). Bob was also a Commercial pilot and he owned 2 lodges in the North West Territories. Namushka & Watta. Bob was also part of the Marten Hartwell search party. He had real love for the being in the air. Bob was an oil man in every sense of the word. He owned multiple oil field companies throughout the years. He was Rough, but he was tough but he was also Sensitive. Bob had a real love for Music. When he was 20 he bought a second hand guitar and taught himself how to play. Bob and Jeannie would sing and dance all night long and into the next day if you let them. Isn’t it an absolute wonder. That a man so Strong, so Brave and so Courageous can cultivate and grow such a beautiful delicate thing as the Rose? Bob LOVED his Roses. Bobs favorite saying was for 50 cents more we could go first class. Bob was, and usually did go First Class. When Bob Ruhl walked into a room weather it had 10 or 100 people, everyone knew he was in the room, even if he was behaving himself. Bob was bit of an outlaw. Bob always caught magic fish because after they had been cleaned the Story’s and Fish got a whole lot bigger ( lol ). Bob was an incredibly lucky man. To have been married too, and have Jeannie by his side for 65 years. Jeannie doted over him everyday. Bob Ruhl was also a Creator he built 3 beautiful Acreages. 2 in the Lloydminster area that had a lot of rocks to be picked RIGHT GIRLS. Then 1 in the Golden Valley where he lived out the last 28 years. “As we go through our lives and utter the word MAN in any context whether it be to Honor Anyone or to describe Yourself, you best be using that word carefully, for now you know what a “MAN is”. Thank you Bob for the memories and all the good times. Survived by wife Jeanne five children, Sandy, Mark, Michele (Owen), Roberta, Carman, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren three siblings Alec, Bonnie (Ken), Ronnie (Val).
